iPhone 15’s: How to Read Live Voicemail Transcript In Real Time (iOS 17)

As technology continues to advance, our smartphones are becoming more than just communication devices – they’re becoming personal assistants. The iPhone 15 Series, comprising the iPhone 15, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and 15 Plus, has ushered in a new era of mobile communication with a groundbreaking feature: real-time live voicemail transcription. In this article, we will explore the purpose and benefits of this cutting-edge innovation, shedding light on how it’s transforming the way we manage our voicemail.

Live Voicemail introduces the groundbreaking capability to generate an instantaneous transcription while someone is in the process of leaving a voicemail message. This means that as the caller speaks and records their message, you can contemporaneously view a written rendition of their words. Essentially, you no longer need to wait until the voicemail message concludes to access its content; the transcription unfolds in real time, providing a dynamic and immediate understanding of the caller’s message as it is being composed.

How to Turn On/Off Live Voicemail:

  1. Unlock your iPhone and ensure you have iOS 17 installed.
  2. Open the “Settings” app on your device. It looks like a gear icon.
  3. Scroll down and tap on “Phone.”
  4. In the “Phone” setting, tap “Live Voicemail.”
  5. Now tap on “Live Voicemail” toggle button to switch it On or Off. Once it’s on, your phone will start providing real-time transcriptions of voicemail messages as callers leave them.

Please note: this is a new feature introduced to iOS 17. If you are still using an older version of iOS, you may not see this function in the Settings menu.
