How to Check Battery Health on Samsung Galaxy Phones (Without Third-Party Apps)

If your Samsung Galaxy phone seems to drain faster than usual, you can actually check your battery’s health and charge cycles using a hidden diagnostic tool called SysDump. This method works on most Galaxy models, including the Galaxy S25, S24, and earlier devices — no root or special access needed.

Below is a complete step-by-step guide to view your battery health percentage and charge cycle data using SysDump.

🛠️ Step-by-Step Guide

1. Access the SysDump Menu

Open the Phone app on your Samsung device and enter this code:

*#9900#

If the code doesn’t respond, you may need to temporarily disable Samsung’s security protection.
Go to Settings > Security and Privacy > Auto Blocker and turn it off, then try the code again.

2. Generate the System Diagnostic Log

Once the SysDump screen opens, scroll through the menu and tap Run dumpstate/logcat.
This will start collecting a full system report — it can take a few minutes to complete, so be patient.

3. Save the Log File to Storage

After the process finishes, choose Copy to SD card (include CP Ramdump).
This saves all diagnostic data, including your battery report, to your phone’s internal storage.
Once copied, you can close the SysDump window.

4. Install a Log Reader App

Next, download a log reader from the Google Play Store.
Apps like LogLog or aLogcat can open and read these system log files easily.

5. Locate the Dump File

Open the log viewer app and look for a file named something like:

dumpState_<yourModelNumber>

For example: dumpState_S911 or dumpState_S928 depending on your Galaxy model.

6. Search for Battery Data

In the log reader, use the search bar and type:

mSavedBatteryAsoc

This will bring you directly to the battery health section.

7. View Battery Health and Charge Cycles

Next to mSavedBatteryAsoc, you’ll find important data such as your battery health percentage and charge cycle count.

A healthy battery typically shows a value close to 100% with a low cycle count.
If your number is much lower, it might be time to consider a battery replacement.
