In the ever-evolving world of smartphones, Apple’s iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 15 Plus have been making waves with their innovative features and advanced functionalities. One such feature, “Raise to Listen,” provides users with a seamless way to interact with audio messages. In this article, we’ll delve into the purpose and benefits of enabling or disabling this feature, helping you make the most of your iPhone 15 experience.

To enable or disable this feature on your iPhone (if it’s still available in your version of iOS):

  1. Open the “Settings” app.
  2. Scroll down and tap on “Messages.”
  3. Look for “Audio Messages” or a similar option related to audio messages.
  4. You should see a toggle switch for “Raise to Listen” or a similar setting that you can turn on or off.

“Raise to Listen” worked as follows:

  1. Audio Messages: This feature primarily relates to the iOS Messages app, where users can send and receive audio messages instead of or alongside text messages. Audio messages allow you to record and send short voice notes.
  2. Raise to Listen: With “Raise to Listen” enabled, you could listen to an incoming audio message by simply raising your iPhone to your ear when the message is open in the Messages app. Essentially, it mimics the natural way you would hold a phone to your ear when talking. This is a proximity sensor-based feature that detects when the phone is close to your ear and automatically plays the audio message.
  3. Convenience: “Raise to Listen” is designed for convenience. Instead of tapping on the audio message and holding the phone to your ear manually, it automates the process, making it quicker and more intuitive.
